Madstad Adjustable Windshield System for BMW F800ST (2006 - 2013)

Transform your ride
Madstad’s patented system allows riders to adjust the height and angle of their motorcycle windshield resulting in much smoother airflow, better wind protection and a more comfortable ride than any fixed windshield can provide.

What's included
Our complete drop-in system is custom-made for the BMW F800ST (2006 - 2013) and includes everything needed to mount and position the shield. Your bike will not require any modification.

  • Black aluminum base plate (replaces the stock windshield)
  • A set of Madstad adjustable brackets
  • The acrylic windshield

The mounting base is made of aluminum and bolts to your dashboard where the stock shield is mounted. The Madstad adjustable brackets bolt to this aluminum base then the front windshield screws onto the brackets. This lets you set the shield for your particular height and riding position while pulling lots of air underneath it which is critical for smooth comfortable wind protection.

All Madstad windshields are made from 3/16" (4.5 mm) thick cast acrylic.

Riding is believing
With the windshield separated from the fairing riders now have control over the height and angle of the shield to eliminate the vacuum that is the primary cause of most turbulence. The result? Smooth airflow placed exactly where it’s desired. Most customers have found that they can actually get better wind protection with our smaller adjustable shield rather than a larger fixed one. No longer must you compromise wind protection to enjoy the open-air motorcycling experience.

Color & sizing
All our windshields come in three color options (clear, medium gray and dark gray), as well as multiple sizes. Here are our best guidelines for measuring to find your optimal windshield size:

How to measure video: https://youtu.be/biFx4_vVGG4

1) Review provided photo to determine the measuring point on the bike.

2) Measure up from the measuring point, maintaining the angle of the forks (two wheeled vehicles, 55-60 degrees for other models).

3) Select the windshield size that will be aligned to mouth level.

All of our adjustable brackets have at least 2" of up down range to fine tune the fit and about 15 degrees of angle adjustment used to dial in clean air.

Customer Testimonial

"I have the windshield installed and have logged over 600 miles thus far. The answer to my problems can be stated on one word: SOLVED! I have the lower brackets installed as shipped so I can move the entire assembly up only about 2/3 of the way and that's where it is now. The windshield stands up more or less straight because tilting it at fork angle increased noise around the helmet. As is, it's real quiet and ZERO turbulence unless I sit up unnaturally high. I may have to adjust even higher after I install my bar risers. This is the single best adder I've made to the F800ST. Thanks!" - P.B., Phoenix, AZ

"I just wanted to say thanks for the great windshield -- it's a big improvement over the stock BMW F800ST screen. I had a nice, comfortable freeway ride yesterday and could actually hear the engine for a change instead of getting whiplash every time I turned my head. So, again, I say thanks for a great product!" - C.S., New Brighton, MN

Madstad Engineering Windscreen for 2024 DR 650

I purchased the clear 22" windscreen.
I am 6 ft tall while sitting on the stock seat.
The quality seems very good.
Installation was very easy with recommended requirements.
Reason I purchased the 22" size windscreen was for more options available for adjustments to eliminate wind issues.
Full adjusted height provides my eyesight just below the top of the windscreen. There are no problems with visibility.
Fully lowered adjustment provides good windscreen issues at lower speeds below 45 mph.
I experience no wind buffeting with my visored helmet while fully extended at max adjusted height above 45 mph.
This product has significantly improved the issue of no wind on my helmet and chest.
If there is any improvement needed, I would suggest more windscreen contour protection near bottom of screen to eliminate wind on arms when riding at speeds above 45 - 50 mph.
Overall this is a product will solve most wind issues.

The windshield is too tall. In the lowest position
I have to look thru the windshield to see in front of me.
I ordered the 18 inch because it's the shortest offered.
If it were 2 inches shorter on top, it would be perfect.
I haven't ridden with it mounted yet so I cannot give a good evaluation of how it performs in the wind.

Thanks for leaving your review Rick. We attempt to provide shoppers with enough information to determine where the windshield will be in relation to line of site prior to ordering. But we also recognize it's not a perfect science or customers might not catch the sizing info.

We'll be emailing you tips on trimming down the shield yourself. We'll also include information about our program which allows you to order another size within 45 days at 50%. This would be the windshield only, you send us nothing back. A 16' can be made for you if that works out to be a better size.

Thank you - Madstad Support

Extremely satisfied

I’m extremely satisfied with the 24” windshield for my 2012 Honda NC700X. Installation was straightforward. I used the factory screws to push the factory well nuts through after watching a YouTube video. I intended this windshield to be for winter riding, but the wind noise was so minimal on today’s test ride that I just might end up using this one year round.
