Madstad Adjustable Windshield System for your BMW R1200GS (2004 - 2012)

Transform your ride
Madstad's patented mounting system allows riders to adjust the height and angle of their motorcycle windshield resulting in much smoother airflow, better wind protection and a more comfortable ride than any fixed windshield can provide.

What's included
Our complete drop-in system is custom-made for your bike and includes everything needed to mount and position the shield. Your bike will not require any modification.

  • A set of Madstad adjustable brackets
  • Acrylic windshield
  • All required mounting hardware

Our unique easy-adjust brackets attach to the side plates where your factory windshield angle adjustment knobs are located, and they won't get in the way of aftermarket side deflectors. With the shield fully separated from the front of the bike you can adjust it for the optimum height, angle and airflow which is critical for smooth comfortable wind protection. The smooth profile and extra width of our windshield also contributes to a more comfortable ride than any other windshield can provide.

All Madstad windshields are made from 3/16" (4.5 mm) thick cast acrylic.

Riding is believing
With the windshield separated from the bike riders now have control over the height and angle of the shield to eliminate the vacuum that is the primary cause of most turbulence. The result? Smooth airflow placed exactly where it’s desired. You can actually get better wind protection with our smaller adjustable shield and look over it rather than through it while comfortably enjoying an open view of the road, at any speed.

Colors & sizing
All our windshields come in three color options (clear, medium gray and dark gray), as well as multiple sizes. Here are our best guidelines for measuring to find your optimal windshield size:

How to measure video: https://youtu.be/biFx4_vVGG4

1) Review provided photo to determine the measuring point on the bike.

2) Measure up from the measuring point, maintaining the angle of the forks (two wheeled vehicles, 55-60 degrees for other models).

3) Select the windshield size that will be aligned to mouth level.

All of our adjustable brackets have at least 2" of up down range to fine tune the fit and about 15 degrees of angle adjustment used to dial in clean air.

Husqvarna 701 Enduro. I drilled extra holes so I could drop the windshield down against the front fender for off-road. Then I put it back in the normal position for on-road. I replaced the lower slot screws with these to make sliding the windshield up and down easier, and to make it tight so it won't rattle. These knobs aren't shown in the picture but they replaced the lower slide screws.

Comfortable Ride

This windshield is very well made, and easy to install. Very adjustable to the different styles of writing and conditions. I am looking forward to taking comfortable tours.

Followup to my email

2024 Honda CB500F
I sent you an email the day I installed the system and highlighted that the rear air dam did not fit and will not work as configured and that the screen cannot be raised beyond 59-60 degrees because it hits the top of the instrument cluster.

Even with the two issues, the screen works great! It transforms the bike into an all day rideable machine.

Hi John,

Thank you for leaving your review. Glad to know that it is working great for you despite the deflector and range issues. We'll get with regarding both, likely sending a modified deflector your way.

Thanks again,

Can Work on a 2024+ Tiger 900

Knowing that I was taking some risk, I went back and forth with Madstad a bit about the uncertain fitment and ordered this for a 2024 Tiger 900. Madstad did their due diligence in warning me that it might not fit correctly. It does work, but you will need to swap out the upper 2 bracket mount screws (20mm M5 screws) with something a but longer (I used 25mm black oxide coated SS). I did tell Madstad about the screw difference, which really is a minor adjustment, but have not yet heard back. If you have a 2024+ Tiger 900, maybe they can furnish the extra screws upon request or something but even if not, replacements are cheap and easy to find.

I got this because I ride frequently on the highway and often in colder weather; the OEM Tiger screen left me with wind fatigue, bug cadavers and ringing ears. I first tried a large National Cycle V-Stream, but I found the appearance did not jive with the Tiger's aesthetic and, being petty about such things on my motorcycle, could not continue with it. This bad boy looks so much better than the V-Stream. Almost as important as the appearance, it works great. There's a nice breeze across my torso and my helmet sits in a freakish eye-of-the-storm spot with almost nothing. There is no buffeting at all. I am 5'10" with a 30" inseam on regular pants (32" on riding pants). I generally ride with the Tiger seat in the higher position. After measuring a bunch of times using the method suggested by Madstad, I had determined that the ideal screen height would probably be 21", so I went with the light grey 22" screen. The color is a knock-out, blending in beautifully. The lines are neat and clean, calling little attention to themselves, and the material itself is thick and sturdy.

As for the size, with the 22" screen mounted in it's lowest position and angled to mimic the rake of the fork, it is just below my line of vision (again, with seat in high position). It is currently slightly distracting at lower speeds (I'll probably get used to it), but it is not an issue at highway speeds where I'm looking farther ahead. I have not tried it yet with the seat in a lower position but I suspect I would find the screen too high and interfering with my line of sight. In hindsight, I probably should've gone with a 20" and might consider ordering a second one at that size. I do sometimes use the lower seat setting and if the 20" were raised, it would reach the extra 2" necessary to mimic my current screen with the seat in the higher setting. Then again, the current one does it's job so well, I'm hesitant to mess with it. Additionally, I am cheap.

I know this screen is expensive but I truly feel it's going to be your best looking and best working option if you want better wind protection. If you measure and you're stuck in between sizes, my experience is/was that I probably should've gone down rather than up.

Thank you Jason for taking the time to leave such a thorough review. We're real glad that you feel the investment is worth it and that your happy with the looks and protection. That's what keeps us doing what we do.
And noted regarding the new model year fitment. We'll plann on adding to the website.

Thanks again,
