Adjustable Windshield System with Quick-Release for BMW R 18 (2020 & Up)
Our complete drop-in system requires no modification and includes everything needed to mount and position the shield:
- Center mount quick-release base bracket
- Quick-detach adjustable windshield brackets
- Touring windshield
- All requires mounting hardware
The touring shield is positioned in front of your instrument pod and the adjustable brackets allow you to set it for the most comfortable airflow depending on your particular height and riding position. Adjustability is critical for smooth comfortable wind protection while looking over the shield, not through it! All of our R 18 shields are about 20" wide at their widest point, as measured straight across the back. This is their finished width.
You can detach the windshield in seconds (and without tools) if you prefer to go without. Only the minimal base bracket is left behind. Same thing goes for the lower deflectors; they snap on and off in seconds with just a minimal bracket left behind.
NOTE: This system does NOT fit the Transcontinental (fairing) version of the R18.
Lower Deflectors Kit for BMW R 18 (2020 & Up)
This is a lower deflectors add-on kit ONLY. It requires that you already have the Madstad touring shield system. These lowers will NOT attach without the touring shield brackets. This kit includes:
- Quick-detach lowers brackets
- Lower deflectors

I purchased a 24" windshield and amounting kit for my Pan Am, I think it might be too tall. So I took up Madstad up on the 50% off the second windshield and got a 22" windshield. The one that doesn't work best for the highway will be cut down just enough to clear my iPad mini that I will use for navigation. This short one will be for my offroad adventures. So now I've had this Madstad windshield for a couple months, I have been extremely pleased with this windshield and mounting system, it is soo much more solid than stock. It has zero movement! Though you cannot adjust the windshield on the fly like you can with stock, that does not bother me at all. Once you find the position your windshield works best, why would you move it? If your on the fence about the price of the windshield and mounting system, just suck it up cupcake and get this! I promise you will NOT regret this purchase!

I really like the ultimate bumper. It was fairly easy to install and gives more ground clearance. It is also built way more solid then the original bumper. Recommended!

I really enjoy Madstad products, this is the 4th product I have purchased from the company. The instructions are clear, the fit and finish are excellent. The only thing that surprised me a little about this windscreen for our 2023 Triumph Bonneville T120 is that it is not a "snug" fit, it has a bit of motion in the screen after it is installed, but it is not noticeable at highway speed.
Thank you for leaving your review. It's great to hear the instructions helped and the fit and finish are to your standards. With the quick-release you are able to tighten the round spools which catch the windshield brackets. Using a #6 Allen and 10mm crescent wrench, you can add some additional tension - compressing the grip of the brackets more. You'll want to find the balance of lowest movement and still be able to take on and off when using the quick release feature. I am not overwhelmed by the change from the stock versus this huge windscreen. I’ll try a different helmet and report back.
Thank you for leaving your reply. You may have already, but please spend time experiementing with the various angles. For best results the top edge needs to be somewhere close to mouth level. Please contact us at support@madstad.com if you are not able to adjust that high with your current size.
