What's included:
Our complete drop-in system is custom-made for your bike and includes everything needed to mount and position the shield. Your bike will not require any modification.
- Black base plate
- Madstad adjustable brackets
- The acrylic windshield
- Pair of black acrylic side deflectors
- All required mounting hardware
The base plate assembly attaches to the metal framework of the bike just ahead of the instrument cluster. Our adjustable brackets attach to that base then the shield attaches to the brackets.
With the shield separated from the bike you can adjust it for the optimum height, angle and airflow. This lets you set the shield for your particular height and riding position while pulling lots of air underneath it which is critical for smooth comfortable wind protection. Standard side deflectors help block the lower wind coming into your torso for a more comfortable pocket of protection.
All Madstad windshields are made from 3/16" (4.5 mm) thick cast acrylic.

This windshield doesn’t seem like it’s gonna cover you but because of the tilt it creates a slipstream that shoots right over your head. I’m 5’11” on a 23 F3S. The classic Blue Ridge was too short and caused a lot of air turbulence making my helmet so loud. I was riding 80 mph on the freeway and was able to flip up my visor (Shoei Neotech 2) and no wind caught inside my helmet. Of course I was wearing safety glasses. Love the look of the clear acrylic. I see right over it. I’m not looking through it at all."
Color & sizing
All our windshields come in three color options (clear, medium gray and dark gray), as well as multiple sizes. Here are our best guidelines for measuring to find your optimal windshield size:

1) Review provided photo to determine the measuring point on the bike.
2) Measure up from the measuring point, raking back toward the rider to approximately 55-60 degrees.
3) Select the windshield size that will be aligned to mouth level.
All of our adjustable brackets have at least 2" of up down range to fine tune the fit and about 15 degrees of angle adjustment used to dial in clean air.

FIRST: Install was easy despite not having a guide; their web link was not helpful but I managed to find a photo. Caution is needed with the locking knobs. They have small notches and a groove which must be precisely lined up. Again, a detailed instruction would be helpful. I figured it out being mechanically inclined but it could be harder for some.
SECOND: the performance is great so far. I am 71" tall and ordered the 22" model for my fat bob 114. It has several tilt angles and im trying the one before max tilt which makes a HUGE difference with buffeting. I've chronic neck pain and usually cannot wear full face because of the buffeting but Madstad is a lot better. With the tilt one notch from fully back and height just below eye level I no longer feel the top of my head being smacked. The more vertical I adjust it the worse my head gets smacked around regardless of height-the tilt back is the best thing. There is still some lower buffeting regardless of height but it is not as noticeable and doesnt seem to hurt my neck but there is some helmet movement (my helmet is properly fitted). For someone without neck problems I would say you may not even notice. Again I had problems with several bikes regardless of helmet style-ultra classic, road glide, heritage, and a dyna with clip on shields and lowers. Every one was headache time but Madstad is doing a far better job.
I'm still experimenting with different heights and angles; I can say confidently the adjustability makes the difference.

I was missing 2 of the rubber nuts for the display screen, missing 2 screws, no instructions, had to spend money by going to a hardware store to put the screen on because every time I called for two days straight I magically cudnt get nobody on phone at all. So I had everything apart to replace the windscreen and realized I was missing essential pieces to even put it on to ride my bike

After reading several reviews of various windshield options, I chose MaddStad. While the other shields were lower priced, none had the adjustability I was looking for. I recently downsized to the BMW F800GT from other larger sport touring motorcycles. All of which have electronically adjustable windshields. I wanted something that would allow to to change the airflow depending upon the weather conditions. I always look over the windshield, even when it is set to the highest position. The MaddStad shield allows me to adjust the pitch as well as the height of the shield. Instructions for the most part were good, but better photos would make the process easier to follow. It took me 1.5 hours with a few put the piece on, take the piece off and try again sessions.
